SARAH WEAVER, Psychology Student

Sarah received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the University of Lethbridge in 2014, and is currently in the final stages of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree from Yorkville University. She’s completed additional training in youth mental health, mental health first aid, crisis intervention, and suicide intervention and prevention.

With over 12 years in the field, Sarah brings experience with youth and adults facing a variety of obstacles and a strong understanding of how systemic structures, biology, trauma, upbringing, relationships – and all their intersections and interactions – impact health and wellbeing. She strives to create a safe space where clients can explore their experiences and innermost emotions and learn skills to navigate their unique challenges.

Central to Sarah’s approach is narrative therapy, a type of counselling that views individuals as the authors of their own stories. Through collaborative exploration of personal narratives, clients uncover the influence of societal norms, cultural expectations, and systemic structures on their lives. Emotion-focused therapy, another aspect of Sarah’s practice, delves into the transformative power of emotions. By understanding and embracing emotions as valuable sources of information, clients embark on a journey of self-discovery and emotional healing.

But more than anything, Sarah is committed to staying up to date with several contemporary evidence-based theories to tailor therapy to the unique needs of each individual. Her integrative approach allows for flexibility and adaptability, ensuring that the therapeutic process aligns with the client’s goals and personality.

Others describe Sarah as warm, present, and deeply empathetic toward their experiences. She fosters an environment where individuals can explore the intersections of their identities, increase awareness of their inner processes, and learn the skills needed to thrive.

Sarah understands that seeking therapy is a courageous step, and she honours the trust her clients place in her. If you are seeking a therapist who values your unique story, honours your emotions, and is deeply committed to exploring the many factors that impact your mental health, we invite you to make an appointment with Sarah. Together, you will embark on a collaborative journey to a more fulfilling life.
